If you wish to contribute to the Survey, you will need to register below.

For more information on the Toronto Feral Cat Survey see the Toronto Feral Cat Survey FAQs.

Only one person (i.e. the colony caretaker*) may submit data for each colony. Otherwise, the data we are collecting will be unreliable.

*The Toronto Feral Cat Project defines "colony caretaker" as follows:

A colony caretaker is an individual, or group of individuals, who takes responsibility for one or more feral colonies in a community. The caretaker provides food, water and shelter and, ideally, spay/neuter surgery and emergency medical care. A colony caretaker monitors the general health and welfare of the cats and the number of individuals in the colony to the best of their ability. A colony caretaker has knowledge of the cats and their environment, so that they are able to report on the number of males, females, kittens, new arrivals, and missing members in the colony, in addition to how the cats are fed, sheltered, etc.

In the case of those caretakers who wish to contribute data to the Toronto Feral Cat Survey, The Toronto Feral Cat Project expects the colony caretaker to perform the following:

- provide the initial information for the colony registration.
- provide reasonably accurate reports on changes in population and the progress of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts with the colony to the Feral Cat Survey a minimum of twice yearly.**

** Under NO circumstances will the location of a registered colony in the Feral Cat Survey be released to any person or organization outside the Toronto Feral Cat Project. Compiled data from the Feral Cat Survey is an important tool to monitor the effect and progress of TNR initiatives. The data compiled in the Feral Cat Survey will be used in a variety of ways to benefit feral cats, including but not limited to:
- determining further initiatives needed to improve the quality of life for homeless outdoor cats.
- gaining or increasing funding for TNR and colony care efforts.
- advocating for legislation and by-laws to provide better protection and services for the cats.
- educating and improving public relations using accurate data to illustrate the benefits of TNR to a community and to the cats.
